Streets of Rage 4 - continuation of the cult beat-em-up series, the previous part of which was released back in 1994. Events start 10 years after the end of the third game.
Peace has returned to Wood Oak City. The syndicate, led by Mr. X, collapsed, and the heroes of the series, who made every effort to calm the metropolis, went about their business. But as usual, a new criminal empire looms over the city, which the police alone cannot cope with..
Despite such a long break, our protagonists, returning to the streets for justice, saw all the same sparkling neon signs, garbage cans, fried chicken and, of course, all the same hooligans and gopniks terrorizing the neighborhood.
The gameplay brings you back to the good old days, when you didn't need to saturate the gameplay with puzzles, RPG elements and platforming - just solid action with 2D side-scrolling elements.
At the beginning of the game, 4 heroes are available. In the course of the plot, the 5th opens. There are 12 characters in total in the game, unlocked with earned bonuses. Each fighter is unique in its own way, among them are available:
- Floyd is a mountain of muscles with a cyber prosthesis that can grab several opponents at once;
- Cherry is a petite female guitarist who can run. She is the daughter of Adam Hunter, the hero of the first part;
- Axel is a regular character in the series, represented in the game in as many as three versions: one quickly dodges, the second has a rich range of techniques, the third has a large engagement zone, etc..
Special attacks are divided into three types: defensive, ground attack, and air attack. Each character has an ult, the radius of which reaches half the screen.
One of the main features of Streets of Rage 4 is that the developers have changed little compared to the classics. Only slightly modernized, thrown out controversial elements, such as a timer and gave a real sense of celebration to all fans of old-school beat-em-ups and hardcore action games.
