 لعبة فيديو تقمص الأدوار (بالإنجليزية: Role-playing video game)‏ تعرف اختصاراً بـ RPGs ألعاب تقمص الأدوار، وتسمى أيضاً آر بي جي، تشتمل على العديد من الأنواع الفرعية، ولكنها تشترك في عدة أمور، مثلاً يتحكم اللاعب بمجموعة من المغامرين لديهم مهارات قتالية أو سحرية.^[1] تحتوي ألعاب تقمص الأدوار على قصة غالباً ما تكون أطول من الأنواع الأخرى في عالم كبير يحتوي على المدن والمناطق الأخرى والتضاريس المختلفة. يقاتل المغامرون أنواع مختلفة من الوحوش، ابتداء من الوحوش الأضعف. ومع حصول الشخصيات على نقاط الخبرة يزداد مستواهم ويتمكنوا من هزيمة الأعداء الأقوى.

• تقمص الأدوار بأسلوب الحاسوب (Computer Role-Playing)

هو أحد أبرز أنواع ألعاب تقمص الأدوار مخصصة غالباً لجهاز الحاسوب، ولكن ليس بالضرورة أن تكون كذلك. تبدأ الألعاب بإنشاء اللاعبين وتشمل على قصة غير خطية. إن هذا النوع من ألعاب تقمص الأدوار هو من تخصص شركات البرمجة الأمريكية والأوروبية. من أشهر ألعاب هذا النوع ذي إلدر سكرولز(بالإنجليزية: The Elder Scrolls)‏.

• تقمص الأدوار بأسلوب أنظمة الألعاب المنزلية (Console Role-Playing)

بخلاف النوع السابق فإن ألعاب تقمص الأدوار بأسلوب أنظمة الألعاب المنزلية تحتوي على شخصيات ثابتة محددة من قبل لكل منها تأثير مختلف على القصة الخطية. وهذا النوع من الألعاب يصدر أيضاً على الأجهزة المحمولة ونادراً للحاسوب، وهو من اختصاص شركات البرمجة اليابانية. من أشهر ألعاب هذا النوع فاينل فانتسي (Final Fantasy).

لعبة تقمص الأدوار متعددة اللاعبين عبر الإنترنت (MMORPG)

• تقمص الأدوار الأكشن (Action Role-Playing)

هو نوع يمزج بين عناصر ألعاب تقمص الأدوار وعناصر ألعاب الأكشن. الاختلاف الرئيسي هو طريقة قتال الأعداء حيث في تقمص الأدوار الأكشن يتم مهاجمة الأعداء بشكل مشابه لألعاب بيتم أب بينما في ألعاب تقمص الأدوار يقاتل اللاعب الأعداء في معارك منفصلة. كينجدم هارتس (بالإنجليزية: Kingdom Hearts)‏ مثال على ألعاب تقمص الأدوار الأكشن.

• تقمص الأدوار متعددة اللاعبين عبر الإنترنت (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing)

نوع من ألعاب تقمص الأدوار مشابه لتقمص الأدوار الأكشن، يلعب فقط عبر الإنترنت مع اللاعبين الآخرين، أي في نفس العالم. معظم الألعاب تدور في العوالم الخيالية، وهناك عدد من الألعاب التي لها قصة خيال علمي. جميع اللاعبين يلعبون اللعبة في نفس العالم ويمكن أن يتفاعلوا أو يتعاونوا أو يتقايضوا الأدوات فيما بينهم. من أشهر ألعاب هذا النوع وورلد أوف ووركرافت ولاين أيج 2 (lineage 2).

• روجلايك (Rougelike)

ألعاب روجلايك تعتبر من ألعاب تقمص الأدوار، وتدور في الزنزانات العشوائية التي تحتوي على الأعداء والأدوات وبعض الأمور الأخرى مثل السلم الذي يقود للطابق الأعلى أو لخارج الزنزانة. من أقدم ألعاب روجلايك نت هاك (بالإنجليزية: NetHack)‏.

• تقمص الأدوار التكتيكية (Tactical Role-Playing)

نوع تدمج بعض عناصر ألعاب تقمص الأدوار مع الألعاب الإستراتيجية. يتم التحكم بالشخصيات في منطقة مكونة من مربعات كثيرة، لكل شخصيات اللاعب والشخصيات المعادية دور خاص به للتحرك أو الهجوم أو القيام بأي شيء آخر. شاينينج فورس (بالإنجليزية: Shining Force)‏ مثال على هذا النوع.

Project: Stealth Fighter is a simulation game from Microprose.

 The player can select from 4 campaigns: Lybia, North Cape, Persian Gulf, and Central Europe. Mission types depend on the conflict level selected (Cold War, Limited War and Conventional War). The player selects the type of equipment/weapons for the type of mission to be flown. Examples: A recon mission would require a camera and possibly extra fuel. A bombing mission would need the type of bomb required to successfully accomplish the mission.

The main aspect which sets apart this flight simulator from other flight simulators of the time is that it is the first simulator for a stealth fighter. The players has the role of a Pilot who has to successfully complete mission in enemy countries. These include spy missions, where the player has to enter enemy airspace and fulfil his mission without being detected by the enemy.

The game was considered to be a landmark in AI development on release. The AI would only pursue the player aggressively after he was discovered. SAM batteries and enemy fighters offer a very realistic and most notably believable behaviour, for the time. The radar detection was remarkable, as well. The outcome of a mission can thus take a totally unexpected direction, depending on the player's actions and the interplay of all factors, like radar detection. Possible outcomes include rescue by a V-22 Osprey, a report on the pilot's arrest by a Soviet news network, or a formal complaint by an allied or neutral nation, whose planes have been destroyed. The pilot's file records all mission points. Depending on the outcome of the mission, the following missions are changed, which gives the game the feel of a campaign.

The game shipped with keyboard overlays, a combat guide for stealth plane as well as detailed maps for the theatres of operation. These extras were not included with the re-release, which was published under the the title F-19 Stealth Fighter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (often referred to simply as Modern Warfare 2) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released worldwide on November 10, 2009 for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A version for OS X was developed by Aspyr and released on May 20, 2014. The Xbox 360 version was made backward compatible for the Xbox One in 2018. It is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing the same storyline. It was released in conjunction with two other Call of Duty games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized for the Nintendo DS, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, a port of Call of Duty 4 adapted by Treyarch for the Wii console.

The game's campaign follows the Task Force 141, a special forces unit fronted by Captain Soap MacTavish, as they hunt Vladimir Makarov, leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party, and the United States Army Rangers, who are defending the country from a Russian invasion. The game's main playable characters are Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson, of the 141, and Private James Ramirez, of the Army Rangers, with Captain MacTavish becoming playable later in the campaign. An expansive multiplayer mode is featured in the game, with several new features and modes that were not seen in its predecessor.

Development for the game began in 2008, when it was still known as Call of Duty 6. It uses the IW 4.0 engine, an improved version of Call of Duty 4's IW 3.0. Infinity Ward was inspired by real-life conflicts when developing the campaign mode. They initially tested the multiplayer mode by playing an in-house beta version of the game. Modern Warfare 2 was officially announced on February 11, 2009. Teasing of the game began in March, with short trailers being released for the game and, eventually, a full reveal trailer. The multiplayer mode was revealed shortly after. Two downloadable content packs were released for it post-release, each containing four new multiplayer maps
